Changing the filter for your air conditioning system is like properly maintaining your car. If you change your filter regularly, your AC system will last longer. The filter has many different effects on your system that most people don’t know about. Many times it will keep you from having to rack up expensive repair bills. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Similarly, a filter a month keeps the AC guys at lunch.
When you don’t change your filter at the recommended time, dust and other air particles will start to seep through the filter and begin to clog up your air conditioner. This makes it harder for the system to cool the air which works your unit harder, puts more wear on the indoor and outdoor unit and could cause extra wear that does not occur under normal operating conditions. The longer and more frequently you do this to your AC system the shorter the life of your system. This is one of the biggest and longest investments in your home. Don’t create the need to replace your system early.
The recommended time to change your filter is generally one month but can vary depending on the type of filter. Changing your filter on time lets your system run at a higher efficiency, use less electricity, and last much longer.
