I am going to rant today. My new favorite saying is going to be “If you want it cheap go down the street”.
We offer some really good value jobs and many times have the low price on the job. However, we can’t beat a low ball price. What we can do is include more than the other guy.
We started with a new home builder once and during the install he started asking what some items were. One example was a float switch in the auxiliary drain pan. It’s a safety switch that turns the unit off if the drain pan starts to over flow. (It is required by the government). The other guy wasn’t using them. Little things can make a big difference sometimes.
Some of the things we do.
- We tend to up size the duct to grills. It allows better air flow and quieter operation. It doesn’t cost much but it greatly increases the comfort and quality.
- We take the time to make sure that every filter size is a size that the customer can find easily in a store.
- We install the unit so that it is easily serviced. It just makes it less expensive to service later on.
The worst equipment installed correctly will always outperform and outlast the best equipment installed incorrectly. So take the best equipment and install it right and have something to put your name on. Just because it looks like it’s installed right and the company looks reputable, it may be installed wrong.
We at D & D take pride in our work. We want people to see the quality they are getting.
We offer an INEXPENSIVE system, not a CHEAP system.
Trane uses an electronic expansion valve in its high grade units rather than a thermal expansion valve. It increases the efficiency when the load is not at its maximum. Other manufacturers use a thermal expansion valve in their high end units rather than a piston. What in the world is the difference you say? If you use a piston for an expansion devise then the unit is only at its maximum efficiency when it’s at 95 degrees outside. If it’s 85 then the unit acts like its low on refrigerant and the efficiency drops. Using an electronic valve means that at 85 degrees the efficiency and capacity increase rather than decrease. The cost of the unit went up $100 to make. It will save you that every year. Pay me a little one time or pay the power company every month.
So if you want cheap go down the street, because we just want to do it right. Otherwise call the best air conditioning contractor in Kerrville for an affordable, quality system install.
